Monstera Peru Variegated

Dhs. 350.00

Size: 25cm in nursery pot

variegated Monstera Peru (Monstera karstenianum variegata) requires a bit more attention than its non-variegated counterpart, mainly because the variegated parts lack chlorophyll and are more sensitive. Here’s a care guide to help your plant thrive:

🌤️ Light

  • Bright, indirect light is best.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, especially on variegated parts—they can burn easily.

  • Too little light can cause the variegation to fade or the plant to grow slowly.

💧 Watering

  • Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry out between waterings.

  • Water less frequently in cooler months.

  • Use room-temperature, filtered water if possible.

Signs of overwatering: Yellowing leaves, root rot.
Signs of underwatering: Drooping leaves, dry leaf edges.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C)

  • Humidity: 60% or higher

    • Use a humidifier or pebble tray in dry environments.

    • Misting is okay but not essential.

🌱 Soil

  • Well-draining aroid mix:

    • 1 part potting mix

    • 1 part perlite

    • 1 part orchid bark or coco chips

    • Optional: a bit of charcoal for airflow and cleanliness

🪴 Pot & Drainage

  • Use a pot with drainage holes.

  • Repot every 1–2 years or when root-bound.

🌿 Fertilizer

  • Feed monthly in spring/summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer (diluted to half-strength).

  • Do not over-fertilize—variegated plants are more sensitive to buildup.

✂️ Pruning & Propagation

  • Prune to shape or encourage growth; use clean, sharp scissors.

  • Propagate via stem cuttings with at least one node and an aerial root. Root in water, sphagnum moss, or perlite.
