Cactus

Care, location

Cacti prefer a sunny location. With too much shade, the plants turn gray and fillet. Provide a well-permeable soil that has a neutral to slightly acidic pH (between 6 and 7). The cactus soil that is commercially available meets the requirements. Repotting cacti should only be done if the cactus has become too large in relation to the pot. This has to be done depending every 3 to 5 years. Spring is the best time to repot. Potted plants are best poured only after 10 to 14 days because damaged roots have to recover a little.

Temperature

The most optimal temperature is around 25 ° C during the summer. On really sunny days, this temperature may rise to 35 ° C without any problems occurring, ensuring that the cactus has sufficient moisture available. During the winter the plants are at rest and the temperature can drop to 10 ° C. The condition is that the plants must be dry.

Water and fertilization

Casting is a more difficult matter. A general rule is that the cactus should only be poured when the soil is completely dry (also at the bottom). In winter (October-March) you are not allowed to pour because the plants then know their rest period. The fertilization is done with a commercially available cactus fertilizer that has a low nitrogen content. During the summer it is advisable to fertilize once a month.
