Alocasia Wentii Aurea

Dhs. 350.00

Alocasia wentii 'Aurea' is a rare and stunning cultivar of Alocasia wentii, characterized by its deep green to bronze leaves with bright yellow (aurea) venation or stems. It combines the dramatic, shield-shaped foliage typical of Alocasia wentii with bold, golden accents — making it a collector's favorite.

Despite its exotic look, care is similar to other Alocasias, but consistency is key.

🌿 Alocasia wentii 'Aurea' Care Guide

☀️ LIGHT

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal.

  • Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter-colored stems or veins.

  • Can tolerate medium light but may grow slower or produce smaller leaves.

✅ Tip: Use sheer curtains if placing near a bright window.

💧 WATERING

  • Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy.

  • Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.

  • Reduce watering in winter or during dormancy.

🚫 Avoid: Overwatering — it’s a fast track to root rot.

🌱 SOIL

  • Needs airy, fast-draining soil.

  • Ideal mix:

    • 1 part peat or coco coir

    • 1 part perlite or pumice

    • 1 part orchid bark

💡 You can also use a well-aerated aroid mix.

🌡️ TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY

  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C)

  • Humidity: 60% or higher

    • Will tolerate 50%, but may develop crispy edges below that.

    • Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or place in a greenhouse cabinet.

🧪 FERTILIZER

  • Feed every 4–6 weeks during growing season (spring–early fall).

  • Use a balanced liquid fertilizer, diluted to half strength.

  • Skip fertilizing in winter when dormant.

✅ Optional: Use a slow-release fertilizer during repotting for a steady supply of nutrients.

🍂 DORMANCY

  • May enter dormancy in colder or darker months.

  • Leaves may yellow or die back.

  • Reduce watering but don’t let the soil go bone dry — the corms still need moisture.

🌱 New growth returns in spring when light and warmth increase.

🪴 REPOTTING

  • Repot every 1–2 years, or when rootbound.

  • Spring is ideal.

  • Choose a pot with good drainage — terracotta pots help wick away moisture if overwatering is a concern.
