Light
-
Bright, indirect light is best. Near an east- or north-facing window works well.
-
Avoid direct sunlight—it can burn the leaves.
💧 Watering
-
Water once a week, or when the roots turn silvery-gray.
-
Use room temperature water and let it drain fully—never let it sit in water.
-
In hot/dry conditions, mist lightly (but avoid crown rot).
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
-
Ideal temp: 18–24°C (65–75°F) during the day, slightly cooler at night.
-
Orchids like 50–70% humidity. Use a humidifier or a pebble tray with water if it’s dry.
🌱 Potting & Soil
-
Use orchid bark mix, not regular soil.
-
Repot every 1–2 years, ideally after blooming, when roots outgrow the pot or bark breaks down.
🌸 Fertilizer
-
Use a balanced orchid fertilizer (20-20-20) once a month or every 2 weeks at half strength during growth.
-
Skip feeding during dormancy or flowering rest periods.
✂️ After Blooming
-
Once flowers fall, you can:
-
Cut the spike halfway (to encourage possible rebloom from a node), or
-
Cut it all the way to the base for a fresh new spike next season.
