Philodendron Florida Beauty

The Florida Beauty has dramatic variegated large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that are deep green with striking variegation. It's a fast-growing plant that needs a structure of some kind to climb on but is otherwise fairly low maintenance. 

Growth Habit: Philodendron Florida Beauty is a climbing or trailing plant, depending on how it is grown. When provided with support, such as a moss pole or trellis, it can climb upwards. Otherwise, it tends to trail gracefully, making it suitable for hanging baskets or cascading over the edges of containers.

Light and Temperature Requirements: Like most Philodendron varieties, the Florida Beauty prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but may not grow as vigorously. It thrives in warm temperatures typical of tropical regions and should be protected from cold drafts.

Watering and Soil: These plants prefer evenly moist but well-draining soil. Allow the top inch or two of the soil to dry out between waterings, but avoid letting the soil become completely dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's essential to strike a balance.

Maintenance: Philodendron Florida Beauty is relatively low-maintenance, requiring occasional pruning to remove dead or yellowing leaves and encourage bushier growth. Regularly wiping the leaves with a damp cloth helps keep them clean and free from dust, which can interfere with photosynthesis.

Toxicity: Like many Philodendron species, the Florida Beauty contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause irritation if ingested. It's essential to keep these plants out of reach of children and pets.
