🌿 Labisia “Jabi” — Care Guide
Light
-
Prefers moderate to bright indirect light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can fade or burn leaves.
 -
If light is too weak, growth slows and patterns/variegation may dull.

Temperature
-
Thrive in warm, stable temperatures. For the Jabi Sunrise variant, growers keep temps between ~ 65-85 °F (18-29 °C).
 -
Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.

Humidity
-
High humidity is very important. Labisia in general do best when humidity is 60% or higher.
 -
Use a humidifier, mist (carefully), or place on a pebble tray. Enclosed terrariums or plant cabinets often give the right microclimate.

Watering
-
Keep substrate moist but not soggy. For the Sunrise variant, growers say “keep substrate wet at all times” but “wet but airy” — implying good drainage and airflow.
 -
Don’t let the soil dry out completely between waterings.
 -
Signs:
-
Yellow leaves may indicate overwatering.
 -
Curling or browning leaves may signal underwatering or low humidity.

 -

Soil / Potting Mix
-
Use a light, airy, well-draining but moisture-retentive mix — something like a blend of coco coir / peat moss, orchid bark, and perlite or pumice.
 -
The mix must retain humidity but allow air and drainage to prevent rot.

Fertilizer
-
During the growing season, you can feed monthly using a general houseplant fertilizer diluted (½ strength is safer) as recommended in the Jabi Sunrise care notes.
 -
Reduce or stop feeding during slower growth (winter/dormant periods).

Repotting
-
Repot when roots are crowded or soil becomes compacted—usually every 1–2 years.
 -
Best to repot during the growing season.
 -
Be gentle with roots; they might be delicate in these jewel plants.

Dormancy / Rest Period
-
Growth will slow in cooler or lower light months.
 -
In those periods, reduce watering slightly (but don’t let the plant dry out completely) and keep humidity up.
