Watering
-
In the hot season: water deeply but infrequently, letting the soil partly dry between waterings. This encourages deeper roots and avoids root rot.
-
In very high heat, you may need more frequent watering if it’s in a pot or exposed location.
-
In cooler or winter months: reduce watering. Although Dubai doesn’t get frost, the plant’s growth will slow and overwatering becomes a risk.
-
For potted plumeria: ensure pot has drainage holes; avoid saucers standing in water.
Fertilising
-
Use a low‐nitrogen, higher‐phosphorus fertilizer to promote blooms (rather than lots of foliage).
-
During active growth (spring to late summer) feed perhaps once a month (or as local gardener advice suggests).
-
In the less active/dormant period (cooler months) reduce or stop fertilising.
Pruning & Shape
-
Minimal pruning required. Remove dead or damaged branches, shape lightly if desired.
-
Be careful: plumeria sap is milky and can irritate skin/eyes. Wear gloves when cutting.
-
If pot‐grown and becoming top-heavy, consider installing a stake or larger pot.
-
In Dubai, ensure leaves dry after watering and avoid foliage‐wetting midday if possible.
